Telephone calls claiming to be from HMRC

14 November 2019

We are aware that some members of the public have received telephone calls from people claiming to be from HMRC asking for money. Due to phone number cloning the calls may appear to come from UKSC switchboard phone numbers (020 7960 1500 or 1900). In some cases, people have been asked to look up the UKSC website to 'verify' the switchboard numbers on the website.

This is a scam, and if you receive such a call you should not disclose your personal details or hand over any money.

If you have suffered financial loss you should report this to Action Fraud - the UK's national fraud and cyber-crime reporting centre. You can call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 (please note this number will be charged at your normal network rate).
