Amendments to the UKSC Practice Directions
The UKSC Practice Directions were amended as follows on 18th September 2026.
| PD 1.29 & 1.31 | Clarification of the restrictions on Appeals from the Court of Appeal. |
| PD 3.34 & 3.38 | Updated to reflect a new practice to allow, in certain circumstances, a reply to a Notice of Objection: only where a jurisdiction is raised and/or a request for PTA to be granted only on conditions, an appellant to file submissions in reply to NOO. NB not encouraged/allowed in other circumstances, but a general ability to apply for permission to respond to a NOO. Also allowing the panel to have everything before them when making the PTA decision. Also amending the requirement for a panel to ask parties for views if they consider granting PTA on terms. |
| PD 5.22 | Changing should to MUST be bound with com binding etc (i.e. making it mandatory rather than advisory). Also, that bundles MUST be printed double-sided. |
| PD 6.13 | Amended to make it clear that the Court will not allow time in hearings for transcribers to take breaks. Our stenographer guidance has already been updated. |
| PD 6.15 | Updated the presumption about court dress. |
| PD 7.11 | Updated guidance on the drafting of an order after hand down of a judgment. |
| PD 13.33 | Updated to reflect the fact that we do not require fee notes to be receipted. |
