Podcast takes listeners behind the scenes of the UK Supreme Court

The Court’s Judicial Assistants (JAs) work closely with the Justices, giving the JAs a front-row seat for the most important appeals and judgment hand-downs in the UK. The job description is clear: each JA is assigned to one Justice for a year, and their duties include conducting legal research on appeals and applications for permission to appeal, drafting bench memos summarising applications for permission to appeal, and attending appeal hearings.
Yet what is it really like to be immersed in the UK’s apex court on a day-to-day basis, with daily access – and support - to the twelve Justices? In this Law Pod UK podcast, two of our JAs Poppy and Monty, take listeners behind the scenes at the Court, revealing how they prepare for case hearings, the pressure of preparing press summaries, and the extra opportunities that are made available to them – such as the JAs annual trip to the US Supreme Court (and what they talked about with US Justice Neil Gorsuch when they met him).
